As an Assistant Store Director, you’ll play a key leadership role in supporting Store Directors while managing core store functions such as the Cash Office, Facilities, Customer Service, and more.
You’ll be instrumental in ensuring store performance, Partner engagement, and customer satisfaction while contributing to the continued success and culture of ownership at H-E-B.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations

Provide daytime/mid-shift coverage and oversee closing operations

Lead teams to maintain high standards for sanitation, safety, and store conditions

Guide performance management for direct reports

Communicate and implement company initiatives and new programs
-
Oversee the operations of the Cash Office, Gas Station, Business Center, and maintenance
-
Manage store sundry accounts, wrap supplies, claims, and damages
-
Identify and act on shrink opportunities
-
Resolve customer complaints and partner issues
-
Ensure compliance with safety, food safety, and regulatory standards through routine audits
Qualifications
Required:
-
Completion of School of Retail Leadership (SORL) training or equivalent leadership experience with VP/HR approval

Forklift and power jack training
-
Experience in leadership, personnel management, and store operations
Skills:

Strong interpersonal, leadership, and conflict resolution skills

Financial and analytical problem-solving capabilities

Excellent written and verbal communication

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and H-E-B systems
-
Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks under pressure
Physical Requirements

Stand, walk, reach, kneel, squat, and lift 40–60 lbs regularly

Ability to work extended hours and flexible shifts as business demands

Ability to remain composed in high-stress customer service situations

Exposure to moderate noise levels
