Job Description

At Oasis Academy John Williams, the Head of Year plays a pivotal role in guiding each year group to success. As a leader for a specific year group, you will be a champion for every student, ensuring they achieve their best academically, socially, and emotionally. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and managing a team of seven tutors, you will help orchestrate day-to-day activities while fostering an environment of growth and achievement.

This role includes a teaching commitment of 17 out of 25 lessons per week, and we welcome applicants from all subject areas. Please include your preferred subject in your application.

Oasis Academy John Williams is a thriving secondary school in Hengrove, South Bristol, catering to over 880 students aged 11-16. Our school is diverse, with 79% White British, 17% SEN, 43% Disadvantaged, and 32% FSM students. Responsibilities of the Head of Year

The Head of Year will take charge of the pastoral leadership within their year group, overseeing the following duties:

• Lead and support a team of tutors to ensure high standards of student welfare, behavior, and academic progress.

• Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to monitor student performance and identify areas for improvement.

• Promote personal growth and development, helping students prepare for life beyond school.

• Engage with parents and guardians to ensure strong communication and support for student progress.
