Enhancements paid for antisocial hours.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and ‘At Risk’ status applicants, including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon with relevant recent experience.

Main Duties of the Health Care Assistant Role

  • Provide personal care for patients.

  • Perform basic patient assessments under supervision.

  • Follow infection prevention and control policies.

  • Promote health education to patients.

  • Demonstrate care and compassion to patients, carers, and relatives.

  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients at all times.

Additional Responsibilities of the Health Care Assistant

  • Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting, bathing, dressing, and feeding.

  • Record oral fluid balance and nutrition.

  • Work under supervision to support individual patient care plans and report any changes to the Registered Practitioner.

  • Practice safe standards of care in line with Trust policies.

Person Specification for Health Care Assistants

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to work effectively within a team.

  • Good time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or social care setting.

  • Level 2 qualification in Clinical Healthcare Support or equivalent (NVQ Level 2 or similar).

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (A*-C or equivalent).
