Role Overview

Risk Strategies Consulting (RSC) is seeking a Healthcare Actuarial Analyst to support clients’ healthcare initiatives, develop actuarial tools, and provide strategic insights. You will contribute to projects impacting employer, insurer, provider, and care solution clients by analyzing data, optimizing pricing strategies, evaluating care models, and supporting risk management across healthcare programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support actuarial and analytical projects for clients, delivering high-quality insights.

  • Develop understanding of core actuarial concepts and apply them to tools and best practices.

  • Identify data issues and outliers, providing solutions and recommendations.

  • Assist internal business partners with actuarial deliverables.

  • Develop presentation materials and communicate results to stakeholders.

  • Contribute to actuarial model development and enhancements.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate and timely project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Economics, or related field.

  • On Actuarial Exam track, with 2+ exams passed.

  • 3+ years of healthcare actuarial experience preferred in areas such as:

    • Commercial healthcare and stop loss markets/products

    • Traditional Health & Welfare benefits consulting and underwriting

    • Reserving, pricing, and financial modeling for first dollar and medical stop loss

    • Pharmacy/PBM pricing and management

    • Alternative funding arrangements (MEWAs, Captives)

  • Experience with Excel, SQL, VBA, and/or SAS for quantitative modeling.

  • Knowledge of healthcare databases (claims, EMR, labs, encounters).

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, able to convey complex topics to non-expert audiences.
