Role Overview
The Healthcare Analyst supports the Zero Balance team by reviewing hospital-insurance contracts, analyzing claims data, identifying underpayments, and assisting in claim appeals. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to contribute to client success and departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities

Review contracts between hospitals and insurance carriers; model claims data and identify lost revenue

Contact responsible parties to resolve claim payment issues

Prepare and forward claim appeal letters with supporting documentation

Establish working relationships with insurance company contacts

Collaborate with teammates and leadership to identify trends and improve processes

Analyze large datasets to identify underpayment and denial patterns

Research laws and regulations regarding hospital reimbursement

Contribute to client decks and weekly reports; present findings to leadership

Maintain personal productivity and meet project metrics efficiently

Comply with HIPAA guidelines and participate in privacy and security training

Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Basic to advanced knowledge of Excel

Analytical capabilities and financial acumen

Understanding of health insurance, EHRs, EMRs, and claims handling

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in healthcare operations or revenue cycle

Knowledge of auditing and reporting tools such as SQL
