Role Overview – What Does a Healthcare Support Worker Do?
As a Healthcare Support Worker, you’ll work alongside nurses and clinical staff to provide essential patient care. Your responsibilities will include:

Helping patients with mobility, hygiene, dressing, and toileting

Supporting mealtimes and assisting with feeding

Monitoring vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and oxygen levels

Core Duties and Skills Required for a Healthcare Support Worker
Clinical Tasks You May Perform
Once trained and competent, Healthcare Support Workers may be expected to perform:

Basic health checks (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration)

Glucose monitoring

Oxygen saturation readings

Collection and testing of biological samples

Wound swabbing and infection control practices
You’ll also participate in holistic patient assessments and help maintain accurate records for multidisciplinary teams.
