Job Description

The High School Health Teacher at Arkansas Virtual Academy (ARVA), a Stride K12 partner school, is a state-certified educator responsible for teaching health courses in a virtual environment. Teachers provide engaging instruction, guide students’ learning, and support individual academic needs using Stride K12’s learning management system.

This is a full-time, remote position (40+ hours per week) with occasional travel for professional development, state testing, or school functions. Candidates must hold an Arkansas Department of Education High School Health Teaching Certification and ideally reside in Arkansas.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver rich synchronous and asynchronous lessons.

  • Personalize learning to meet diverse student needs.

  • Differentiate instruction based on mastery levels.

  • Maintain accurate grade books and academic integrity.

  • Prepare students for standardized testing.

  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and learning coaches.

  • Support parents/learning coaches with curricular and instructional guidance.

  • Travel as required (~20% of the time) for in-person duties.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Active Arkansas teaching license in High School Health.

  • Ability to clear a required background check.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience teaching high school students (virtual or in-person).

  • Strong technical skills with online platforms and MS Office.

  • Ability to analyze and use student data for instruction.

  • Receptiveness to coaching and ongoing professional development.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to ensure student success.

Work Environment & Commitment

  • Remote role requiring a distraction-free home office.

  • Standard work hours: 9–5 (or 8–4), Monday–Friday.

  • Regular travel for training, testing, and school events.

Compensation & Benefits

Stride, Inc. offers compensation based on education, experience, and qualifications. Salaries are typically offered in the lower half of the range and may vary based on benefits, location, and role expectations.
