About the Role

As a Service Counter Partner at Waitrose, you’ll be at the heart of the in-store experience. You’ll work directly with customers on our food counters—serving fresh products, giving recipe advice, and sharing your passion for quality, ethically sourced food.

Your friendly approach and knowledge of our products will help build customer trust and loyalty, while your attention to detail and focus on hygiene ensures the highest standards on the counter every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the quality, hygiene, and presentation of your food counter

  • Ensure shelves and counters are stocked with the freshest items customers love

  • Follow food safety, health and hygiene regulations at all times

  • Minimise waste by careful preparation and handling

  • Offer cooking advice, recipe ideas, and product recommendations to customers

  • Support the wider team with general shop tasks as needed

Essential Skills

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A positive, approachable, and helpful attitude

  • Passion for delivering great customer service

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing, hospitality, or food retail role

  • Understanding of food safety standards and working with open food

  • Up-to-date knowledge or interest in food and drink trends

  • Flexibility to support across the store when needed
