As a People Administrator / Assistant, you will be a key player in delivering efficient and proactive HR support to your site. Working closely with the People Specialist, you’ll manage core HR administration and provide first-line support to employees and managers — ensuring compliance, timely payroll, strong communication, and a positive colleague experience.

Your Key Responsibilities

Serve as the first point of contact for employee HR queries

Provide HR guidance to site colleagues and managers

Support payroll administration to ensure all staff are paid accurately and on time

Maintain confidential HR records and data in line with GDPR

Provide ad-hoc HR reports and analysis

Conduct weekly HR audit checks

Coordinate recruitment processes and onboarding tasks

Monitor and ensure compliance with company HR policies
-
Coach and support managers with absence management, disciplinary, and grievance issues

Foster employee engagement through clear, proactive communication

Build strong relationships with union reps, agencies, and stakeholders

Champion a positive workplace culture and assist with engagement activities
About You
You don’t need to be fully HR-qualified — but we’re looking for someone who brings energy, accuracy, and people-focused drive.
We’re looking for:

Experience in a fast-paced HR or People admin environment (logistics is a plus)

Excellent IT skills – particularly Microsoft Excel

Experience using HR systems

Great attention to detail and confidentiality awareness

Experience advising on foundational HR topics and supporting managers
-
A proactive approach with the confidence to take initiative

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Understanding of key HR policies and procedures

Willingness to pursue continuous development and upskilling
