Key Responsibilities

Clinical Practice & Patient Care

  • Deliver safe, effective, independent nursing care using the nursing process.

  • Perform thorough patient assessments and adapt care plans to meet individual needs.

  • Document patient care accurately in both electronic and physical records.

  • Support patient/family education, identifying learning needs and resources.

  • Recognize cultural differences and personalize care.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Delegate care appropriately using the Synergy Model of Care.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and family partners.

  • Function as Charge Nurse when assigned.

  • Assist in orienting and mentoring staff and students.

  • Demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution skills.

Quality & Professional Development

  • Contribute to evidence-based policy updates and quality initiatives.

  • Collect, analyze, and report patient care data to drive improvements.

  • Maintain required professional development hours per clinical lattice PLAN system.


Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • BSN graduates: At least 12 months of recent nursing experience (within past 5 years), OR completion of a re-entry nursing program.

  • ADN graduates: At least 2 years of recent nursing experience (within past 5 years).

Exceptions for Current Emory Employees:

  • Current LPNs employed at Emory who complete an accredited RN program may transition into this role while completing the RN Resident Program.

  • Emory LPNs in ADN programs as of 3/30/2025 must complete a BSN within two years of entering the RN Clinician role.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active, valid Georgia RN license (unencumbered)

  • BLS certification required (AHA)

  • ACLS and specialty certifications may be required post-hire depending on department
