About Achievement First
Achievement First is a rapidly expanding network of high-performing, non-profit public charter schools serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade in Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island. Responsibilities of an Achievement First Teacher
Achievement First teachers play a vital role in fostering academic excellence and personal growth in students. Their key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Academic Excellence and Personal Growth

Establish a structured, achievement-focused classroom environment that motivates and engages students to reach ambitious goals.

Foster a strong classroom community by working collaboratively with families to support students’ academic success and personal development.

Use data from Achievement First’s interim assessments to guide instruction and implement effective intervention strategies.

Collaborate with grade or subject teams to design and execute high-quality unit and lesson plans.

Demonstrate Achievement First’s core values in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
Professional Development and Growth

Work closely with coaches, grade-level chairs, and school teams to enhance instructional practices, leadership skills, and classroom culture.

Participate in all professional development sessions, team planning meetings, and data analysis discussions.

Engage enthusiastically in both structured and informal learning and professional growth opportunities.

Educational Background and Experience

Preferably two years of teaching experience with a proven record of student success.

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0; Master’s degree preferred.

Candidates with a GPA between 2.75 and 3.0 may submit additional recommendations for consideration.

Must hold or be in the process of obtaining Connecticut teaching certification.
