Industrial Electrician – Job Description
General Overview
As an Industrial Electrician, you will play a crucial role in supporting manufacturing operations by troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, and repairing tire-related machinery and processing equipment. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and organized work environment in accordance with facility standards.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical components and systems, including sensors, motors, drives, and PLC systems.
- Laying out, assembling, installing, and testing electrical fixtures, control equipment, and wiring.
- Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing wiring, switchboards, switches, fuses, lighting fixtures, and other electrical mechanisms (110VAC–4160VAC).
- Installing, inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating AC and DC motors up to 2,500 HP.
- Troubleshooting industrial control systems, including hydraulics, temperature control systems with steam or electrical heat sources, and chilled water cooling systems.
- Performing minor welding tasks, such as fabricating and installing brackets and panel mounts.
- Cutting, threading, and bending conduit using the necessary tools.
- Working with live circuits and performing hot taps when required.
- Maintaining power, lighting, and alarm wiring systems.
- Logging maintenance and repair activities using computerized work order systems.
- Interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, sketches, layouts, and circuit diagrams.
- Following all safety protocols, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, PPE standards, and NFPA 70E Arc Flash safety guidelines.
- Adhering to Goodyear’s attendance policy.
- Performing physical tasks in varying conditions, including lifting heavy materials, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements successfully.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must provide own basic tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as an Industrial Manufacturing Electrician with a working knowledge of heavy industrial machinery, power/control devices, and machine operations.
- Possession of an Industrial Electrician Journeyman’s card or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Electrical Technology.
- Experience working with PLC and AC/DC drive controls such as Modicon, Siemens, and Rockwell.
- Ability and willingness to learn cross-disciplinary skills.
- Experience adhering to industry-specific safety standards.
