Are you passionate about supporting new mothers and promoting breastfeeding? We’re currently recruiting an Infant Feeding Support Worker to join the Maternity Infant Feeding Team at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Ysbyty Wrexham Maelor. This is a fixed-term role until 31/03/2026, offering the opportunity to make a real difference in postnatal care. As an Infant Feeding Support Worker, you’ll provide breastfeeding support on the postnatal wards and assist the wider team with data collection and service delivery. Your Role as an Infant Feeding Support Worker

The Infant Feeding Support Worker will play a key role in supporting mothers during the early postnatal period, helping them achieve their feeding goals. You will:

  • Offer direct support with breastfeeding and infant feeding

  • Work collaboratively with midwives and the Infant Feeding Team

  • Contribute to data collection and service improvements

  • Promote compassionate and evidence-based care on the postnatal ward

This is a vital position supporting mother and baby wellbeing during the first few days of life.

Skills Needed for the Infant Feeding Support Worker Role

To thrive as an Infant Feeding Support Worker, you must:

  • Have experience supporting breastfeeding mothers

  • Hold a recognised entry-level breastfeeding support qualification (e.g. ABM Mother Supporter, NCT Peer Supporter, BFN Helper)

  • Demonstrate empathy, communication skills, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

  • Ideally, possess further qualifications like Breastfeeding Counsellor certification

  • Be comfortable with flexible working and assisting across different tasks, including data gathering

Welsh language skills are desirable. Applications in Welsh are welcomed.
