Job Overview

Citi is seeking an Engineer Sr Analyst to provide database engineering and support for mission-critical systems across Postgres, Mongo, Oracle, Redis, and Couchbase. This role requires expertise in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, high availability, and automation, with experience in public cloud, GenAI implementations, and UNIX scripting. The position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced global environment with cutting-edge technology while ensuring compliance and reliability of Citi’s core systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide database support for Postgres, Mongo, Oracle, Redis, and Couchbase.

  • Monitor and resolve database alerts, performance issues, and capacity constraints.

  • Implement and support database high availability and disaster recovery solutions.

  • Plan and implement complex changes, upgrades, and migrations.

  • Conduct SQL tuning and performance optimization, advising developers as needed.

  • Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for incidents and service restoration.

  • Automate database tasks using UNIX scripting, Ansible, and automation tools.

  • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and operational standards.

  • Support 24×7 operations under a Follow-the-Sun on-call model.

  • Partner with application developers and support teams to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of engineering experience, preferably in financial services or large enterprise environments.

  • Strong knowledge of database internals, installation/configuration best practices, and upgrade/migration methods.

  • Expertise in Oracle, Postgres, MongoDB, Redis, and Couchbase (multi-DB experience preferred).

  • Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.

  • UNIX/Linux administration skills with automation and scripting experience.

  • Familiarity with public cloud platforms and GenAI implementation use cases.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and perform under pressure.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience required.
