Job Description:

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is offering internship opportunities for college students during the summer of 2026. This is a great chance to gain valuable work experience while supporting the U.S. Navy.

We are seeking IT students for our Summer Technical Internship Program, where you’ll have the chance to work alongside world-class IT professionals. You’ll engage in cutting-edge research, develop new technologies, design and test IT systems, support naval training IT operations, and work with Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) environments. Your work will directly impact the Navy’s mission.

Program Highlights:

  • Final presentation to management and peers

  • Meet with the NNL General Manager and Executive Leadership

  • Facility tours and a guided trip to a Naval Shipyard

  • Extensive networking opportunities

The internship lasts 10-12 weeks, starting in May/June 2026. Successful completion may lead to a return internship or full-time employment offer.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Information Science, or related fields (BS, MS, or PhD)

  • Completed at least one year of college by May 2026

  • Enrolled in a degree program throughout the internship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0

  • Prior internship, co-op, or work experience

  • Experience with DOE, DOD, or the Naval Nuclear Program

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: $23.50/hour – $41.00/hour

  • 401(k) plan with company match and Capital Accumulation Plan (CAP)

  • Flexible work schedule options, including a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off)

  • Stipend for students who live more than 50 miles from the work location
