Position Overview: Inpatient Pharmacist
We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Pharmacist to join our inpatient care team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the accurate and safe dispensing of medications, ensuring adherence to all established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. You will play a crucial part in patient care through careful review of medication orders, consultation with prescribers, and diligent record-keeping.
Core Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
As an Inpatient Pharmacist, your key duties will involve:
- Medication Dispensing & Management:
- Precisely dispense medications to inpatients, strictly adhering to established institutional policies and procedural guidelines.
- Ensure all dispensed medications are accurately and clearly labeled before distribution.
- Expertly compound intravenous (IV) admixtures and parenteral nutrition solutions, maintaining aseptic techniques and quality standards.
- Order Review & Clinical Verification:
- Receive and meticulously review all medication orders for appropriateness, completeness, potential drug interactions, incompatibilities, and any inconsistencies.
- Proactively consult with physicians and other prescribers to clarify discrepancies, resolve issues, and optimize medication therapy.
- Documentation & Regulatory Compliance:
- Diligently document all non-formulary drug approvals, restricted medication authorizations, and any unusual or complex medication orders.
- Report any prescription discrepancies or concerns to the pharmacy leadership and meticulously record unusual medication orders in the designated intervention log.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records for every controlled substance dispensed, ensuring all documentation is complete and complies with all federal and state regulations.
- Initiate computer-generated labels and diligently maintain all required records and statistical data related to medication dispensing and pharmacy operations.
- Inventory & Supply Management:
- Order necessary medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Upon receipt, thoroughly check all incoming medications and supplies for accuracy, integrity, and appropriate storage.
- General Duties:
- Perform other related duties as required to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the pharmacy department.

Required Qualifications & Credentials:
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:
- Education: A Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree from an accredited institution is required.
- Licensure: Must hold a current, valid, and unrestricted license to practice as a Pharmacist in the State of New York. Any specialized certifications relevant to inpatient pharmacy practice are also highly desirable.
- Experience: A minimum of one to three (1-3) years of relevant professional experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably within an inpatient or hospital environment, is required.
