Position Overview – Clinical Pharmacist
Sutter Health is seeking a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist to provide high-quality, patient-centered pharmaceutical care. In this role, you will support safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy by delivering clinical services, education, medication preparation, and distribution. You’ll collaborate with healthcare teams to contribute to patient care plans, earning trust through skilled assessments, attentive monitoring, and clear, compassionate communication.

This position is part of a decentralized care model and requires participation in code response. You’ll also precept pharmacy students on IPPE/APPE rotations. PGY1 residency or equivalent direct patient care experience is preferred.


Qualifications

Education

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited college of pharmacy.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Pharmacist License (PHARMD or PHARMR) – Active and in good standing in the State of California.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required for code response roles.

Experience

  • Minimum of one year of recent, relevant pharmacy experience.


Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, drug names (generic and trade), and medical terminology.

  • Understanding of pharmacy practices across various healthcare settings, including safe handling of controlled substances.

  • Familiarity with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards (e.g., NABP, TJC, Title XXII, DEA, FDA, USP, and DHS).

  • Proficiency with pharmacy systems, EHR platforms (including EPIC), and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent communication skills to clearly convey sensitive or complex information to diverse audiences.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Commitment to protecting patient privacy and maintaining confidentiality of health information (PHI).

This role may involve handling hazardous medications in accordance with NIOSH and USP 800 safety guidelines.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $90.97 – $100.06

  • Compensation may vary based on location, experience, skills, licensure, certifications, and other organizational considerations.
