We are hiring an Inpatient Medical Coder to join our healthcare documentation team. The Inpatient Medical Coder will ensure accurate and compliant ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG code assignments for inpatient records. Responsibilities of an Inpatient Medical Coder

  • Review and code all inpatient records using correct ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG classifications.

  • Abstract and input all required demographic and clinical data.

  • Create appropriate, compliant, and non-leading physician queries.

  • Ensure quality and productivity meet or exceed client and internal expectations.

  • Follow compliance standards including HIPAA and ISO 27001:2013 guidelines.


Qualifications for the Inpatient Medical Coder Role

  • Active certification through AHIMA or AAPC (CCS, CPC, or CIC).

  • Minimum 2 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility.

  • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS and strong understanding of DRG assignments.

  • Must adhere to all company compliance and data protection policies.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate degree preferred).


Skills and Experience Needed for an Inpatient Medical Coder

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in code selection.

  • Solid understanding of healthcare documentation and coding regulations.

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines with high-quality performance.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective query writing.


Job Details

  • Experience Level: Intermediate (2–4 years)

  • Salary Range: $32–$37 per hour

  • Location: Remote (U.S. residents only)
