About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS Certified) to join our team. This position is responsible for accurately coding all types of inpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM and PCS, HCPCS, and CPT coding systems. The ideal candidate will be CCS certified and have at least four years of inpatient PCS facility coding experience.

Note: To be considered for inpatient coding assignments, candidates must pass a coding assessment test.

Key Responsibilities

Review complete inpatient medical records to identify and assign principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications
Accurately sequence diagnoses and procedures to ensure correct DRG assignment, maintaining at least 95% coding accuracy
Utilize ICD-10-CM, PCS, CPT, and other references for appropriate code selection
Maintain a minimum productivity standard of coding 2 inpatient charts per hour
Use computer-assisted coding systems effectively to ensure optimal DRG assignment
Hold accounts when further documentation is required, and follow up with leadership, providers, or clinical staff as needed
Stay current with new or updated coding guidelines and industry literature; actively share knowledge with peers
Participate in special projects and perform related duties as assigned by management
Demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
Collaborate with team members to achieve department and client-specific goals

Required Qualifications

Certification:
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) certification from AHIMA — Required

Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of inpatient PCS facility coding experience — Required
