About the Role
Ascensus is seeking an enthusiastic Institutional Relationship Manager (Field Representative) to support the ISave 529 College Savings Plan in Iowa. You will be responsible for developing outreach strategies, growing program awareness, educating employers and community groups, and promoting plan participation through both in-person and virtual engagement.
This client-facing role requires excellent communication and relationship-building skills, along with strong knowledge of 529 plans or similar financial products.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Outreach

Develop and execute outreach strategies to promote the ISave 529 Plan

Deliver presentations and conduct seminars for employers, schools, and community groups

Engage in event marketing: expos, conferences, community fairs, etc.

Use storytelling and local success examples to support promotion

Manage your territory and track KPIs like account growth, contributions, and payroll participation
Internal Collaboration

Work closely with the Relationship Manager and Director to align with client and board goals

Coordinate with Marketing, Legal, and Compliance teams on materials and campaigns

Collaborate across departments to ensure client satisfaction and plan growth

Support cross-functional sales strategy with focus on key inflow indicators and workplace adoption
External Engagement

Act as a trusted representative of Ascensus and the ISave 529 Plan within the community

Build and maintain relationships with employers, financial professionals, community groups, and state agencies

Assist stakeholders in understanding the plan’s benefits, registration process, and payroll integration

Represent the plan professionally to state boards and government entities

Track impact and report outreach metrics to clients and leadership
Industry Expertise & Project Work

Maintain deep product knowledge of 529 plans, ABLE programs, and SFRPs

Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations

Attend industry conferences and represent Ascensus as needed

Collaborate on marketing material development and plan improvement projects

Use technology and CRM tools to track and report engagement metrics
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree
-
3–5 years of experience in financial services, sales, marketing, or client service
-
Series 6 or 7 and 63 licenses preferred, or ability to obtain within 90 days

Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills

Knowledge or experience with 529 plans, ABLE programs, or employer retirement plans

Relationship-first approach with client-facing experience

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Comfortable working independently from home and while traveling

Ability to manage a territory, set goals, and execute outreach strategy

Must have high-speed internet (25 Mbps or better) and a distraction-free home workspace
Work Environment & Travel

Remote role (Iowa-based preferred)
-
Travel required 25–50% within the region, with some nights/weekends

Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
