Overview
Uniti, a leading fiber provider in the U.S., is seeking a skilled IP Network Engineer to support network optimization initiatives, including modernization, consolidation, and decommissioning projects. This fully remote role provides an opportunity to design, implement, and maintain critical IP networks while collaborating with Network Optimization teams and providing escalation support for IP troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Implementation

Design, configure, and deploy IP networks in line with standards, supporting facility exits, consolidations, and cost-saving initiatives.

Ensure network solutions meet business requirements while enabling modernization and efficiency.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Publish MOPs, peer-review, and communicate network activities within change control systems.

Deploy planned configuration changes during maintenance windows based on risk assessment.

Utilize diagnostic tools to baseline, analyze, and resolve network issues quickly.
IP Address Management

Deploy, optimize, or reclaim IP addressing schemes and subnets for backbone and management network efficiency.

Use IPAM tools, automation, and best practices to maintain data integrity.

Assist Network Optimization teams in readdressing initiatives related to projects.
Documentation & Reporting

Maintain detailed documentation of network designs, configurations, and changes.

Prepare reports on network performance, issues, and solutions for management review.
Project Management & Support

Lead IP network projects from conception to completion, coordinating with vendors and stakeholders.

Provide technical guidance and training to team members on IP networking best practices.

Publish policies, procedures, and technical guides to ensure adherence to standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong knowledge of IPv4 & IPv6 addressing and subnetting.

Proficiency in routing protocols and MPLS technologies, including L2/L3 VPN and traffic engineering.

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure.

Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

7+ years of experience in networking and telecommunications.
Working Conditions

Fast-paced environment, managing multiple concurrent tasks.

Availability for occasional after-hours maintenance (12:00 am – 6:00 am).

Virtual office supporting Eastern, Central, and Pacific time zones.
Minimum Requirements
-
College degree in Engineering or related field with 2–4 years of professional experience, or 6+ years of equivalent engineering/technical experience.
Compensation
-
Base salary range: $63,400 – $83,200 (dependent on location, skills, and experience).
