Job Summary
Mayo Clinic is seeking an Information Technology Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and support enterprise cloud solutions in a fully remote role. You will develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automate cloud operations, and collaborate with security, compliance, and development teams to ensure scalable, secure, and compliant cloud environments. This role contributes to the “Ops” part of DevOps, supports multi-cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and drives cloud platform engineering best practices across the enterprise.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement control plane components for multi-cloud environments, including identity, policy, networking, and resource orchestration.

  • Develop and maintain IaC modules using Terraform for repeatable, secure cloud deployments.

  • Build and maintain APIs, SDKs, and automation workflows to enable self-service provisioning and governance.

  • Integrate cloud-native services with centralized logging, monitoring, and alerting platforms.

  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to embed policy-as-code and enforce guardrails.

  • Participate in architectural reviews, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Contribute to internal documentation, standards, and reusable patterns for cloud platform engineering.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • Experience deploying and operating public cloud frameworks (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset.

  • Familiarity with cloud deployment, security architecture, virtualization, Linux, Agile development, SCRUM, and application lifecycle management.

  • Cloud engineering certification required within 12–24 months.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with at least two major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Experience managing control plane components (service catalogs, policy engines, orchestration layers).

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, container images, and orchestration.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud networking, IAM, and security best practices.

  • Experience with Terraform, Spacelift, or Scalr for IaC.

  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise) and automation scripting (Python, Go, Bash).

  • Exposure to Open Policy Agent (OPA), secret management tools, Ansible, and Ansible Automation Platform.

  • Background in regulated industries, particularly healthcare.


Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full-time, remote within the U.S., with occasional on-campus visits for culture and team activities.

  • Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with weekend on-call rotation.

  • Compensation: $110,614 – $154,856/year.
