Job Responsibilities

The Information Technology Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level cloud solutions. Key duties include:

  • Designing and implementing control plane components for multi-cloud environments.

  • Developing and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform.

  • Building APIs, SDKs, and automation workflows for self-service provisioning.

  • Integrating cloud-native services with logging, monitoring, and alerting systems.

  • Collaborating with security teams to enforce compliance and policy-as-code.

  • Contributing to architectural reviews and internal documentation.

  • Supporting the secure, efficient operation of cloud environments in line with Mayo Clinic standards.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

  • Hands-on experience deploying and operating within public cloud frameworks.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with cloud pricing, deployment, and architecture.

  • Cloud certification (required within 12–24 months of hire).

Preferred:

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency.

  • Kubernetes and container orchestration knowledge.

  • Azure DevOps or GitHub Enterprise experience.

  • Scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash).

  • Familiarity with Ansible, OPA, or secret management tools.

  • Background in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare).

Additional Details

  • Remote Work: Fully remote within the U.S. (occasional on-campus days for culture/connect activities).

  • Weekend Schedule: On-call as needed.

  • International Assignment: No.

  • Visa Sponsorship: Not available (including F-1 STEM OPT).
