IT Cyber Security Engineer Position Overview

Are you an experienced IT Cyber Security Engineer looking to make a significant impact in a growing and dynamic company? This role offers a competitive salary of £60,550, a 7.5% bonus, and the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment after six months. Based in Crawley, you’ll report to the Cyber Security Engineering Lead and play a pivotal role in protecting the organization from cyber threats. The IT Cyber Security Engineer will evaluate security solutions, implement best practices, and ensure compliance with relevant standards, safeguarding critical data, systems, and networks.

Key Responsibilities of IT Cyber Security Engineer

As an IT Cyber Security Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Implementing and supporting UK Power Networks’ cyber security strategy

  • Researching and evaluating new security technologies and tools

  • Working with third-party vendors to design and test cyber security solutions

  • Maintaining and configuring security systems, including firewalls, VPNs, and encryption tools

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest levels of security across all systems

  • Leading root cause analysis of cyber security incidents and providing technical guidance to teams

Qualifications for IT Cyber Security Engineer

To be successful in this IT Cyber Security Engineer role, you must have:

  • Hands-on experience in cyber security, including the implementation of security solutions

  • Proficiency with security technologies like firewalls, SIEM, encryption, and VPNs

  • Familiarity with cyber security frameworks, such as Cyber Essentials, ISO27001, and GDPR

  • Programming skills in languages like Python, PowerShell, and Bash

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH)

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
