Position Summary

The Financial Analyst – Information Systems (IS) is responsible for leading the IS annual budget process, managing the monthly financial close cycle, and overseeing 250+ ongoing hardware and software maintenance contracts. This role partners closely with IS leadership to ensure financial transparency, compliance, and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and skilled at navigating both financial and technical aspects of a large IT organization.

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting & Financial Management

  • Lead the development of annual IS capital and operating budgets in collaboration with IS leadership.

  • Serve as the primary contact for all technology-related expenses (capital & operational).

  • Provide monthly financial analysis, reporting, and variance tracking.

  • Investigate and resolve budget discrepancies throughout the close cycle.

Financial Controls & Policy

  • Define and implement financial policies and procedures across IS departments.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate financial processes (AP, GL, purchasing, budgeting).

  • Partner with Finance (Budget Management, Fixed Assets, AP/AR, Reporting).

Contract & Vendor Management

  • Oversee 250+ hardware/software maintenance contracts, ensuring timely renewals.

  • Maintain annual contract budget files, review accuracy, and identify cost savings.

  • Support vendor contract negotiations and optimize IT spend.

Procurement & Asset Management Support

  • Assist IS Procurement Specialist with the Ariba procurement platform.

  • Troubleshoot procurement issues and provide corrective actions.

  • Serve as backup for procurement and IT asset management functions.

Strategic Support & Governance

  • Evaluate project funding requests for alignment with strategic IS goals.

  • Ensure proper accounting standards for capital vs. expense categorization.

  • Contribute to IS portfolio management and prioritization.

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare executive-level financial reports, dashboards, and presentations for CIO, CFO, and senior leaders.

  • Drive adoption of financial management tools and reporting systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Strong knowledge of financial processes (purchasing, AP, GL, payroll, budgeting).

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in project or budget management.

  • Knowledge of system documentation and process mapping.

  • Exposure to Ariba or similar procurement platforms.

  • Familiarity with software licensing and compliance.

  • Prior experience in corporate IS or IT finance.
