Position Summary
The Guidance Counselor provides academic, career, and personal counseling to support student growth and success. This role helps students with course planning, career exploration, and social-emotional development while collaborating with parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities

Counsel students on academic, personal, and career concerns.

Support post-secondary planning, including college and career readiness.

Assist with applications for college, scholarships, and jobs.

Interpret assessments and guide students in identifying strengths.

Promote dropout prevention and student engagement strategies.

Maintain accurate, confidential student records.

Collaborate with staff, families, and community partners.

Organize career programs, field trips, and workshops.
Qualifications

Valid Missouri Guidance Counselor Certification.

Degree and experience required for certification.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Employment Details

Contract: 9.5 months (additional days for secondary counselors).

Salary & Benefits: Based on Board of Education salary schedule; includes full retirement plan (PEERS/PSRS + Social Security) and district benefits.
