Position Overview
The K–5 Teacher provides an engaging and safe learning environment that supports students’ intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development. The teacher plans, implements, and evaluates instruction to meet the needs of all students while maintaining appropriate classroom management, records, and communications with parents, staff, and the community.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.

Valid North Carolina Teacher’s License for assigned grade and field.

Must not be on the NCDPI list of teachers no longer qualified to teach.

Valid NC driver’s license.
-
If transferring from another school, must have met or exceeded evaluations with no active improvement plans.
Preferred Qualifications:

National Board Certification

Demonstrated record of achieving Highly Qualified status

Spanish-speaking ability
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong understanding of ABSS curriculum and effective instructional practices.

Knowledge of teaching and learning processes in grades K–12.

Ability to incorporate technology into the curriculum.

Ability to maintain a safe and orderly classroom.

Ability to motivate and inspire students.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Effective collaboration with administrators, colleagues, parents, and the community.

Ability to perform clerical duties, maintain records, and operate common office equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
-
Plan and deliver lessons aligned with curriculum goals and student needs.

Foster a positive classroom environment encouraging student engagement and achievement.

Prepare materials, maintain records, and assess student performance.

Establish clear learning objectives and communicate them effectively to students.

Use instructional methods that motivate and support diverse learners.

Ensure student safety and proper use of equipment, materials, and facilities.

Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers.
-
Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community stakeholders.

Administer standardized tests in accordance with NCDPI, testing standards, and ethical guidelines.

Participate in staff meetings, committees, and professional development.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
