About the Role:

Aurora Poppyfield School is seeking a passionate and committed KS3 Teacher to lead our Nurture Programme, designed to support students aged 11–16 with autism (ASD), anxiety-related needs, and complex SEND profiles. Many of our students may also display challenging behaviours, making this a deeply rewarding opportunity for those looking to make a lasting difference in a specialist setting.

The role is ideally suited for a teacher with creativity, empathy, and the ability to inspire students through a personalised, therapeutic curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that cater to individual learning needs

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to support holistic development

  • Set and review personalised learning targets

  • Report on student progress to parents, staff, and relevant stakeholders

  • Support the development and delivery of individual education and behaviour plans

  • Contribute to EHC plans, PEPs, and LAC reviews

  • Stay informed on current best practices in autism education and SEND strategy

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching students with ASC, SEMH, or complex needs

  • A specialism in Science is desirable

  • Solid understanding of differentiated curriculum design for SEND learners

  • Passion for working in a nurturing, inclusive, and flexible school environment

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and behaviour management skills
