Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite broadband network with a mission to deliver fast, reliable internet to communities, schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies worldwide—especially in areas without reliable connectivity.
The Role
As a Network Development Engineer, you will lead the implementation, optimization, and support of mission-critical enterprise networks across Project Kuiper’s manufacturing facilities, research labs, launch sites, and mission operations centers worldwide. Your work ensures high availability, security, and performance across a complex global network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities

Deploy and maintain advanced network solutions in lab/manufacturing environments

Ensure robust network operations for launch and mission activities

Troubleshoot complex routing and performance issues

Implement change control processes for network modifications

Lead capacity planning and performance optimization

Enhance monitoring and alerting systems for proactive detection

Mentor junior engineers on troubleshooting and best practices

Drive automation for efficiency and scalability

Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical support

Collaborate with cross-functional teams on mission-critical operations
A Day in the Life
Your mornings begin reviewing alerts from global mission centers, analyzing traffic patterns, and planning capacity expansions. You’ll support deployments for launch sites, coordinate WAN installations, troubleshoot production routing issues, and mentor teammates. Afternoons may include change management meetings, documenting network modifications, and validating security controls—all while balancing immediate operational needs with long-term strategic improvements.
Basic Qualifications

4+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols

4+ years of Linux/Unix environment experience

1+ year of automation scripting (Python, Bash, Shell, or Perl)
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with AWS networking products (Direct Connect, Transit Gateway)
