Laborer Foreman

Job Overview

The Labor Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the work of labor crews on construction projects to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications. This role requires strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to manage crews, resources, and schedules while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of labor crews.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and project requirements.

  • Assign tasks and provide clear instructions to crew members.

  • Inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites for safety and quality.

  • Maintain time, production, and other required records.

  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and other foremen to achieve milestones.

  • Train, mentor, and evaluate laborers to build strong, productive teams.

  • Monitor materials and equipment usage to prevent waste and ensure maintenance.

  • Identify and resolve issues that could cause delays or safety hazards.

Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of construction labor experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, tools, and equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Commitment to safety and quality.

  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and pull 50 lbs of force.

  • Ability to squat, stoop, or kneel while wearing a 25 lb tool belt.

  • Maintain standing position for long periods with repetitive actions.

  • Navigate uneven terrain, ladders, scaffolding, stairs, and confined spaces.

  • Perform frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching.

  • Adequate vision and hearing for safe performance of construction tasks.

Work Environment

  • Regular outdoor work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, snow).

  • Exposure to high noise levels, dust, fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.

  • Work around moving mechanical equipment, construction traffic, and potential electrical hazards.

  • Tasks may occur at heights and in confined spaces.

  • Requires consistent use of PPE, including hearing protection.

  • Frequent overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
