Lead Data Scientist Responsibilities

As a Lead Data Scientist, you’ll design, deploy, and optimize predictive and generative AI models to solve real business challenges. You will:

Lead the creation, deployment, and monitoring of predictive and GenAI models supporting sales, marketing, underwriting, and HR initiatives.
Develop and customize chatbot solutions using open-source LLMs and GenAI platforms like Amazon Bedrock and Abacus.ai.
Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems to merge internal datasets with LLMs for accurate, context-rich outputs.
Collaborate with teams across departments to identify opportunities and transform business problems into data-driven solutions.
Conduct advanced data analysis to uncover trends and guide strategic decisions.
Mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering growth and best practices in AI application design.
Integrate new data sources to strengthen predictive capabilities and enhance automation.
Promote GenAI adoption company-wide, aligning business goals with AI-driven innovation.
Stay updated on cutting-edge AI technologies to maintain Kapitus’ leadership in data science.

Lead Data Scientist Qualifications

To excel as a Lead Data Scientist, you should meet the following qualifications:

Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline.
5+ years of experience in financial services with hands-on model development and deployment.
Expertise in LLMs, RAG systems, and AI platform integrations (Amazon Bedrock, Abacus.ai, Agent Force, etc.).
Proficiency in Python, SQL, Linux, and AWS.
Strong foundation in machine learning, econometrics, regression, tree-based models, and deep learning.
Experience in marketing mix modeling, multivariate regression, time-series forecasting, and Bayesian analysis.
Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and project management skills.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus.
Strategic mindset and strong business acumen to connect analytics with real-world outcomes.
