About the Role
GFT is seeking an experienced Lead Data Scientist to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge AI and data-driven solutions across a range of industries—including transportation, energy, and water. This position can be fully remote or hybrid (Mid-Atlantic region) and is ideal for a strategic, hands-on leader passionate about leveraging AI, machine learning, and LLMs to deliver measurable business impact.
You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our data science strategy, mentoring a talented team, and collaborating with stakeholders to solve real-world problems using advanced analytics and automation.
What You’ll Do

Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML models, including predictive analytics, LLM agents, and decision-support systems.

Manage end-to-end data science projects, from data ingestion and preprocessing to model validation and production deployment.

Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, product managers, and domain experts to align AI initiatives with business goals.

Stay current with AI/ML, NLP, and generative AI trends, applying them to enhance GFT’s data-driven solutions.

Mentor and guide junior data scientists, setting best practices for modeling, deployment, and monitoring.

Define MLOps standards, governance frameworks, and performance optimization strategies.

Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.

Maintain detailed technical documentation and reusable assets.
What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

5+ years of experience building and deploying AI/ML solutions at scale.

Proven expertise in developing predictive models and LLM-based applications.

Proficiency in Python or R with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face.

Experience with cloud ML platforms (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, or GCP Vertex AI).

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Experience mentoring teams and leading AI-driven projects.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related field.

Hands-on experience implementing MLOps pipelines and automation frameworks.

Industry experience in transportation, water, or energy sectors.

Strong foundation in applied statistics and optimization methods.

Experience in Agile development and cross-functional collaboration.

Familiarity with Esri GIS tools and BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.

Knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or Snowflake.
Compensation & Benefits
💰 Salary Range: $125,000–$155,000 (based on experience and geographic location)
🕒 Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Full-Time
🏠 Work Model: Hybrid (Mid-Atlantic region) or Fully Remote
