Job Summary
The Clinical Lead will play a vital role in delivering and overseeing high-quality primary medical services, offering clinical leadership, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The role includes patient care, leadership of multidisciplinary teams, governance oversight, and active contribution to service development and transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties

Deliver primary medical services via surgeries, clinics, and patient visits in accordance with the job plan.

Make professionally autonomous decisions in response to both referred and self-referred patient presentations.

Assess patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions, determine healthcare needs, and develop patient-centered care plans.

Provide counselling, health education, and ongoing support.

Admit or discharge patients from caseloads and refer appropriately within or outside the organisation.

Offer mentorship and clinical supervision to other healthcare professionals.
Leadership & Service Development

Provide clinical leadership and direction to the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care.

Identify and implement key operational and clinical processes that improve service delivery and patient outcomes.

Lead a culture of innovation, efficiency, and patient-centred care.

Support recruitment, mentoring, appraisals (including communication skills), and professional development of clinical staff.

Promote the organisational vision and values, acting as a role model for excellence in clinical care.
Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance

Actively contribute to the implementation of the Clinical Governance agenda, ensuring safety, effectiveness, and cost efficiency.

Ensure compliance with National Quality Requirements and other contractual standards.

Monitor clinical performance against KPIs, including access, triage, and intervention timelines.

Lead response and action planning for underperformance or non-compliance with quality standards.

Participate in the management and resolution of patient complaints in accordance with procedure and within designated timeframes.

Review significant events, clinical incidents, and patient feedback, promoting learning and service improvement.
Communication & Record Keeping

Ensure robust systems for record keeping across all media, compliant with data protection, Freedom of Information, and access-to-records legislation.

Support internal communication and effective information-sharing among team members.
Team Development & Support

Mentor nurses undergoing non-medical prescribing or advanced clinical skills training.

Support the development of allied health professional roles to complement and enhance the GP-led model of care.
