  • About the Role

    As a senior member of the Pharmacy Department, the post-holder will play a crucial role in delivering and developing high-quality clinical pharmacy services, ensuring alignment with local and national medicines optimisation objectives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development and delivery of clinical pharmacy services, driving medicines optimisation strategies for safe and effective medication use.
    • Support medicines optimisation at the clinical service level by providing detailed medicines usage reports and contributing to the development of policies and protocols.
    • Ensure compliance with medication-related legislation, governance, and best practices, conducting clinical research and audits to monitor safety and cost-effectiveness.
    • Manage and mentor a team of pharmacy staff, leading an efficient medicines management training programme for Trust personnel.
    • Collaborate with the Formulary Pharmacy team to support the Drugs, Therapeutics, and Medicines Management Committee (DTMMC) and oversee the process for adding new medicines to the Trust formulary.
    • Assist the Deputy Chief Pharmacist in addressing patient and medication safety alerts, reviewing medication-related incidents, and implementing action plans where needed.
    • Deputise for the Deputy Chief Pharmacist, contributing to the medicines safety agenda and overseeing clinical pharmacy services across the Trust.
