About the Role

Bkids, the new childcare center at Bethany Athletic Club, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Preschool Teacher to join our growing team! You will be responsible for leading early childhood education programs, supervising staff, and providing nurturing care to children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.

This is a full-time, on-site role offering the chance to grow within a community-focused organization that values education, wellness, and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years

  • Train and mentor new and current childcare/youth programs staff

  • Coordinate weekly schedules and fill in for shifts when necessary

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians

  • Act as a liaison between the childcare department and other departments

  • Develop and manage both free and fee-based youth programs

  • Coordinate birthday parties and youth-focused events

  • Monitor and analyze department budgets

  • Order necessary supplies and materials for program operations

  • Implement and maintain policies and procedures

  • Refer HR matters to the Operations Manager or HR Department

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and childcare regulations

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • Certified in CPR/First Aid

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Motivated and enthusiastic with a passion for early childhood education


Education & Experience Requirements

Must meet at least one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:

    • Early Childhood Education

    • Child Development

    • Elementary or Special Education

  • Associate’s Degree in:

    • Early Childhood Education

    • Child Development

  • Completion of 20 semester or 30 quarter college credits in early childhood-related fields

  • One-year state or nationally recognized preschool credential

  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, with at least 1 year in a certified child care center

  • Must have attended at least Step 8.5 on the Oregon Registry


Training Requirements (Required Prior to Unsupervised Access to Children)

  • OCC-approved Health & Safety Training

  • Child Abuse & Neglect Training (specific to Oregon law)

  • OCC-approved Safe Sleep Training (for centers certified for infant care)
