Position Summary

St. Cloud Orthopedics is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our patient-centered care team in St. Cloud, MN. This role plays a critical part in supporting our providers and ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical foundation, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing a positive patient experience in an orthopedic care environment.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As an integral part of the healthcare team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Clinical Support: Assist physicians and advanced practice providers in a variety of patient care activities, including obtaining vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate), collecting and documenting health histories, and performing basic clinical procedures.

  • Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications and injections under the direction of licensed healthcare professionals, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.

  • Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for physical exams and medical procedures, ensuring their privacy, comfort, and understanding throughout the process.

  • Recordkeeping: Accurately document patient information in electronic health record (EHR) systems, maintaining thorough and up-to-date medical charts in compliance with clinic standards and HIPAA regulations.

  • Procedural Assistance: Assist in minor surgical procedures, wound care, and post-operative follow-ups, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.

  • Patient Education: Provide clear and compassionate instruction to patients and their families on medications, treatment plans, orthopedic devices (such as braces and orthotics), and self-care techniques for recovery and prevention.

  • Orthopedic Support (Preferred): Support clinical staff with orthopedic tasks such as casting and splinting as needed.


Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • Licensure/Certification:

    • Must hold a current and valid LPN license in the state of Minnesota or be a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).

  • Experience:

    • Prior experience working in a medical office, outpatient clinic, or orthopedic setting is highly preferred.

    • Familiarity with medical terminology and clinical protocols is strongly encouraged.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

    • Casting and splinting experience is considered a plus and will be given special consideration.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    • Strong interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mindset.

    • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.
