Position Summary:
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team to deliver patient care, education, and support. They actively participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care according to practical nursing standards, policies, and objectives. LPNs perform their duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Physician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide fundamental bedside nursing care.

  • Ensure the patient environment remains safe, clean, comfortable, and organized.

  • Measure and document patients’ vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

  • Assist patients with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene needs.

  • Prepare and administer injections and enemas as required.

  • Monitor catheter use and function.

  • Record patient food and fluid intake and output.

  • Manage wound dressing changes.

  • Assist with patient mobility such as repositioning, standing, and walking.

  • Collect blood and urine samples for testing.

  • Perform routine lab tests as directed by supervisors.

  • Administer prescribed medications orally, subcutaneously, or intravenously and accurately document all administrations.

  • Report any adverse medication or treatment reactions following established protocols.

  • Support patient health education efforts as appropriate.

  • Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation of all care activities using approved formats.

  • Carry out additional job-related duties depending on the clinical setting.

  • Initiate intravenous fluid therapy.

  • Oversee care provided by nursing aides.

  • Float to different clinical services as qualified and needed.

  • Comply with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.

  • Demonstrate reliability and punctuality for assigned shifts.

Emergency Response Duties:

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to medical emergencies including falls, heart attacks, strokes, burns, and post-operative recovery.

  • Deliver clinical care as directed by an RN or Physician, including CPR, AED use, shock prevention, bleeding control, and spinal injury precautions when indicated.

  • Monitor patient conditions and maintain stability during transport to clinics or hospitals.
