Position Summary

As a PRN Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) at CorrHealth, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to individuals in a correctional healthcare setting. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you’ll contribute to the full spectrum of patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—helping to improve outcomes and support recovery in a unique and secure environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with RNs to assess the physical, mental, and emotional health of patients, both in the health unit and housing areas.

  • Assist in developing and implementing care plans, drawing on diagnostic tools, available resources, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV therapy (if certified), and support provider-led procedures using SOAP charting.

  • Collect body fluid samples and perform EKGs following standard medical protocols.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of medications, equipment, and controlled substances.

  • Respond effectively to emergencies and ensure proper use of safety protocols and infection control practices.

  • Support nutritional and dietary plans as prescribed.

  • Triaging patient concerns and health requests with appropriate prioritization.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN or LVN program

  • Current and active LPN/LVN license in the state of Colorado

  • CPR/BLS certification required

  • TB test completed within the last year

  • At least one year of nursing experience (correctional or clinical experience preferred)

  • Proficient in basic computer skills and capable of learning facility-specific software

  • Ability to operate and manage standard medical equipment safely

  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics


Work Environment & Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening (if applicable)

  • Must obtain and maintain security clearance through the correctional facility

  • Work involves exposure to correctional settings, including potential safety risks and biohazards

  • Physical demands include walking, standing, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 lbs, and remaining calm under pressure

  • Compliance with HIPAA and all applicable state/federal healthcare and security standards is required
