Locum Specialty Doctor in Sexual Health

Role Summary

We are seeking a committed and dynamic Specialty Doctor to join our Integrated Sexual Health Service. Working alongside a dedicated team of doctors and multidisciplinary professionals, you will play a key role in providing high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals with sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV, and specialist contraceptive needs, including long-acting reversible contraception (LARC).

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of modern, evidence-based services in line with national policies and local commissioning objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of STIs, including HIV, and contraceptive services such as LARC.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure safe, effective, and integrated sexual health service delivery.

  • Support the development and implementation of service innovations that improve access, cost-efficiency, and clinical outcomes.

  • Contribute to the training and clinical supervision of multidisciplinary staff, including junior doctors, nurses, and specialty trainees.

  • Participate in clinical governance, including audits, case reviews, and risk management processes.

  • Represent the service at regional and national specialty group meetings and local network events, as required (virtually or in person).

  • Engage in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including involvement in academic training sessions and mentoring.

  • Take an active role in the leadership and strategic development of the service in partnership with service managers and local GP networks.

  • Where appropriate, develop a special interest area aligned with departmental objectives, such as outreach, youth services, or LGBTQ+ health.

What We’re Looking For

  • Full registration with the GMC

  • Relevant experience in Genitourinary Medicine (GUM), HIV care, and/or contraception

  • Experience or interest in teaching and mentoring

  • A commitment to evidence-based practice, service improvement, and professional development

  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
