Autodesk is seeking a Machine Learning Research Engineer 3D to join our AI Lab and advance generative AI capabilities across Autodesk products. Key Responsibilities – Machine Learning Research Engineer 3D

  • Lead engineering projects in data acquisition, ingestion, curation, and benchmarking for AI models.

  • Organize and curate large, unstructured, multimodal datasets including text, images, 3D models, and metadata.

  • Develop and deploy scalable data pipelines for machine learning applications.

  • Conduct experiments, analyze data, and provide actionable insights to researchers and leadership.

  • Ensure ethical and compliant data usage by collaborating with legal and trust teams.

  • Write robust, testable, and well-documented code to support ML workflows.

Qualifications – Machine Learning Research Engineer 3D

  • MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Strong software engineering skills, including ML implementation and distributed frameworks (Multiprocessing, Ray, Spark).

  • Experience handling large multimodal machine learning datasets.

  • Expertise in data modeling, architecture, and processing, with knowledge of 2D and 3D geometry.

  • Excellent communication skills for code documentation, data visualization, and experiment reporting.

  • Proficiency with Linux, cloud computing, version control, and deployment pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated curiosity, creativity, and ability to adapt to evolving research directions.

  • Experience collecting human data for ML model training and evaluation.

  • Strong publication record in ML, datasets, or benchmarks.

  • Knowledge of computational geometry, CAD data, and 3D formats such as meshes, BReps, or implicit representations.

  • Familiarity with the latest ML models, datasets, and training pipelines, with the ability to implement research into practical workflows.

Compensation & Benefits

  • U.S. base salary range: $119,800 – $206,690 (depending on experience and location).
