About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead the ongoing transformation of the historic Sir John Falstaff site. With significant potential for growth in food and beverage sales, as well as private event hire, this newly created leadership position will report directly to the landlord and be responsible for all staff and daily operations.
This is a rare opportunity to play a strategic and hands-on role in the revitalisation of a site rich in heritage. Live-in accommodation can be discussed as part of the recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence

Manage daily operations in compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, employment law, and company standards

Handle cash operations, stock-taking, and loss investigation with precision

Maintain full legal and policy compliance at all times
Leadership & Culture

Lead by example to uphold the site’s high standards of service and conduct

Seek feedback from the landlord and advisory board for continuous improvement

Promote a culture of accountability, initiative, and team spirit
Growth & Strategy

Drive revenue through strategic planning, promotions, and social media campaigns

Monitor and evaluate marketing ROI and customer engagement

Identify risks and mitigate operational issues proactively
Financial Management

Support budget creation and manage costs across purchasing, payroll, and supplies

Ensure profit targets and legal payments are met

Source competitive suppliers to maximise margins
Team Development

Recruit, train, and manage performance of all staff

Foster motivation, reward systems, and a productive work environment

Enforce HR processes for corrective actions and appraisals
Customer Experience

Ensure consistently high service levels across all areas of the venue

Actively respond to customer and staff feedback

About You
We’re looking for a hospitality leader with:

At least 1 year of management/leadership experience

At least 1 year in hospitality management

A hands-on, proactive approach to operations
-
Strong planning, communication, and problem-solving skills

Passion for guest experience and continuous improvement
