Position Summary
Knauf Insulation is seeking a Human Resources Manager to provide both strategic and hands-on HR support for our manufacturing plant. In this role, you’ll serve as a key partner to plant leadership, ensuring the effective implementation of HR policies, programs, and best practices that support operational and business goals. You’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of HR at the plant level—including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compliance with employment laws (with a focus on California legislation), payroll support, health and safety initiatives, and employee engagement. This role also includes managing union relations and collaborating with Corporate HR to ensure alignment across organizational practices. The HR Manager functionally reports to the Director of Human Resources, Operations.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee daily HR operations at the plant, ensuring adherence to Knauf Insulation’s HR policies and procedures.

Act as a strategic advisor to plant leadership, offering insights and solutions related to workforce planning, employee engagement, and performance management.

Partner with union representatives, adhering to the collective bargaining agreement while maintaining a collaborative working relationship.

Develop and implement HR strategies, programs, and procedures that support both short- and long-term business goals.

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state (especially California), and local employment laws; consult with internal/external legal counsel when necessary.

Guide and coach managers on handling employee relations, development opportunities, and performance concerns.

Facilitate talent acquisition and onboarding programs to attract and retain high-quality talent.

Administer the performance management process and support employee development planning.

Conduct investigations and maintain accurate HR records; represent the company during hearings or legal proceedings as needed.

Oversee third-party vendor relationships, including temporary staffing agencies.

Support accurate payroll processing and maintain HRIS data integrity.

Champion company culture, values, and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at the plant level.

Lead local community outreach and workforce planning initiatives.

Support employee health, safety, and well-being programs, including workers’ compensation and incident investigations.

Promote a high-performance, inclusive culture that encourages accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
Qualifications
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Must have experience working in a unionized environment.

Strong working knowledge of California labor laws and compliance standards is required.
