We’re looking for a Manager of Medical Billing to oversee all claim submissions and collection activities across our many entities. In this crucial role, you’ll also be responsible for developing and monitoring billing and collection policies, streamlining processes, and helping implement new solutions. You’ll report directly to the Senior Director of Patient Financial Services.

Key Responsibilities

Managerial Duties

You’ll lead the billing and patient collection teams, providing training, development, coaching, counseling, and performance management. This includes offering timely feedback, recognizing excellent performance, and prioritizing workloads to meet company objectives. You’ll also conduct quality audits to ensure best practices and timely account resolution, and monitor daily performance to meet goals.

Billing Policies & Procedures

You’ll ensure timely and accurate claim submission for all clinics and manage all patient billing and collections. A key part of your role will be troubleshooting billing and payer issues by analyzing denials and feedback to resolve problems quickly. You’ll develop strategies to prevent denials, implement and update billing policies to comply with regulations, and serve as a subject matter expert on payer guidelines, coding, and billing regulations specific to audiology. You’ll also be responsible for updating and monitoring adherence to all Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Standard Operating Procedures and Team Member Success Policies, while always complying with HIPAA and HearingLife guidelines.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

You’ll act as a liaison between Revenue Cycle, IT, Finance, and our clinics, interfacing with stakeholders to resolve billing issues. You’ll identify trends in credentialing and contracting, collaborating with departments to address any related billing problems, and driving escalations to quick resolutions. Your efforts will support revenue cycle strategies to improve cash collections, speed up account resolution, and enhance billing processes.

Technical System Management

You’ll be instrumental in driving the design and use of Waystar modules and functionalities to ensure clean claims and first-pass resolution. This includes overseeing the implementation of new products and processes and optimizing existing systems to boost billing efficiency. You’ll also utilize Waystar reports and dashboards to develop data-driven action plans for operational improvement.


What You’ll Bring

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare, accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in medical billing and accounts receivable within a multi-state environment with a high volume of claims.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven experience managing billing and collection teams.
  • Working knowledge of Waystar claims management system modules is a must.
  • Demonstrated project management and process improvement skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of billing and revenue cycle management.
  • A proven ability to solve complex problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comprehensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong technical skills, including experience working with and setting up revenue cycle software.
  • You’ll be a team player, ready to help and lead others to achieve department goals and develop and mentor staff.
