We are currently seeking a Market Area Controller to oversee financial operations, budgeting, and compliance within multiple cost centers across several divisions. This role is a key part of ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining compliance, and supporting leadership in strategic planning.

About the Role: Market Area Controller

The Market Area Controller plays a critical role in managing accounting operations, financial compliance, and reporting. This onsite position in Gaithersburg requires occasional travel to regional locations to support divisional financial activities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Market Area Controller, your primary responsibilities will include:

Core Accounting & Financial Oversight

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes to ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Work alongside the Assistant Controller to identify inconsistencies in financial reporting and database activity.
  • Assist the Regional Controller in compliance efforts, ensuring financial accuracy, adherence to GAAP, SOX regulations, and company standards.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of financial statements in compliance with GAAP guidelines.

Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Market Area Controller Develop and manage annual operating budgets to align financial planning with manufacturing and operational needs.
  • Implement control systems to maintain financial integrity and manage regional distribution inventories.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses to support strategic decision-making.

Leadership & Compliance for a Market Area Controller

  • Provide team leadership, ensuring employees receive clear goals, training opportunities, and professional development.
  • Maintain compliance with company, state, and federal employment and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with accounting and operational teams to ensure financial and strategic objectives are met.
  • Support budgeting, cash management activities, and policy audits to safeguard company assets.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications:

Education & Experience for a Market Area Controller

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of leadership experience in financial management or supervisory roles.
  • 8-10 years of operational experience in financial or accounting environments.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Advanced degree or certifications in process improvement, finance, or accounting.
  • Experience in environmental sustainability or related industries is a plus.
  • Strong expertise in planning, financial processing, and manufacturing service contracts.
  • Knowledge of strategic economics, budgeting, and financial principles.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel quarterly.
