Position Summary

USA Rugby is hiring a Marketing Manager, Community Rugby to lead storytelling, visibility, and growth of grassroots rugby in the United States. This role collaborates with the Senior Club, College, and Youth & High School councils to design impactful marketing campaigns, highlight rugby’s values, and inspire participation. The position supports USA Rugby’s goals of increasing membership by 10%, improving retention by 35,000+, and expanding engagement nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing Leadership

  • Develop and implement a national community marketing strategy with USA Rugby and the three community councils.

  • Align council-level and club-level marketing efforts to build a unified message: Join us on the pitch.

  • Leverage High-Performance athletes and coaches as ambassadors to inspire players and fans.

Community Storytelling & Content Creation

  • Produce and amplify stories, videos, and content from tournaments, events, referees, and community rugby members.

  • Create engaging content with tools such as Photoshop, CapCut, and Canva.

  • Expand USA Rugby’s digital presence by creating new channels and content pipelines.

Council Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with councils to align marketing while maintaining their unique identities.

  • Host regular marketing collaboration sessions with council representatives.

Best Practices & Measurement

  • Provide “Marketing Best Practices” guidance for councils and clubs.

  • Build quarterly reports measuring marketing impact and engagement.

  • Create simple evaluation tools to help councils and clubs measure campaign success.

Sponsorship & Partnerships

  • Support community-focused sponsorships through storytelling and digital promotion.

  • Collaborate with councils to identify sponsorship opportunities.

  • Align with USA Rugby’s commercial team to grow community partnerships.

Brand & Digital Strategy

  • Manage USA Rugby’s website, email campaigns, and national social media accounts.

  • Ensure brand consistency and inclusivity across all platforms.

  • Track analytics to optimize engagement and growth.

Scope & Boundaries

This is an operational, content-driven role, not an oversight position. The Marketing Manager works collaboratively to elevate, connect, and amplify rugby’s story across councils and clubs.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in marketing, communications, or brand strategy (sports/community focus preferred).

  • Strong skills in storytelling, content creation, and digital engagement.

  • Proficiency in graphic and video tools (Photoshop, CapCut, Canva).

  • Knowledge of the U.S. rugby community, including Senior Club, College, and Youth & High School.

  • Experience managing campaigns, analytics, and digital platforms.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

Compensation

Salary range: $60,000 – $80,000, commensurate with experience.
