About the Role

Are you a bold and strategic marketer with a passion for global justice and independent journalism? New Internationalist is seeking a creative and results-driven Marketing Manager to lead our audience growth and income strategies at a critical time for progressive media.

This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact through purpose-driven campaigns, community engagement, and new product launches that support our award-winning journalism.

You will develop and deliver cross-channel marketing strategies to grow our global reach, retain existing subscribers, and launch an exciting new membership product.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns across digital and offline channels

  • Lead on retention strategies and improve the subscriber journey

  • Identify and engage new audiences across subscriptions and newsstands

  • Develop and launch a new membership offering

  • Activate and upsell to current readers and supporters

  • Coordinate campaign delivery across teams

  • Monitor and report on campaign success, ROI, and performance data

  • Take part in the cooperative’s leadership as a future Director of New Internationalist Publications Ltd

 Co-operative Responsibilities

Following probation, you’ll become a co-op member and company Director, with responsibilities that include:

  • Attending and contributing to co-op meetings

  • Participating in working groups and shared governance

  • Helping shape the business in line with ethical and financial goals

 Essential Skills & Experience

  • Commitment to New Internationalist’s mission and values

  • Demonstrated success in marketing/membership/digital campaigns

  • Experience working to targets and managing complex projects

  • Excellent copywriting and audience engagement skills

  • Knowledge of digital tools (CMS, CRM, email marketing platforms)

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Understanding of independent media and print publications

 Desirable

  • Experience in publishing, co-ops, or social impact sectors

  • Familiarity with donor campaigns or subscription-based media
