Mechanical Engineer – HVAC Design & Building Decarbonization

As a key contributor to our team, the Mechanical Engineer will design innovative HVAC solutions to retrofit buildings across Canada, with a strong focus on electrification of heating systems. You’ll collaborate closely with energy auditors and building assessors to develop cutting-edge products, enabling our clients to achieve their building decarbonization goals.

Overview of Tasks:

• HVAC Design & Innovation:

• Lead the design of HVAC systems tailored for retrofitting projects, with a focus on electrification and energy efficiency.
• Develop creative and technically sound solutions for decarbonizing building systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies and provide recommendations for optimal equipment selection and integration with other building systems.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Ensure designs meet all relevant codes, regulations, and standards.

2. Collaboration and Product Development:

• Partner with energy auditors and building assessors to identify opportunities for impactful improvements.
• Design and refine innovative products and systems that support clients in reducing carbon footprints at scale.

3. Project Implementation:

• Collaborate with architects, designers, project managers and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
• Oversee construction activities, perform site inspections, and provide technical guidance to construction teams.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in HVAC design and decarbonization.

What We’re Looking For:

• A highly motivated and innovative mechanical engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems, preferably focused on retrofitting or sustainable systems.
• Experience with energy-efficient HVAC systems, domestic hot water systems, and plumbing systems.
• Expertise in designing electrification solutions for heating systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to create tailored solutions for unique challenges.
• Exceptional project management and collaboration abilities.
• Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta.
• A passion for sustainability and reducing carbon emissions in the built environment.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to forecast, plan, and collaborate effectively with leadership
