The Opportunity

Join our maintenance team at one of the UK’s most impressive quarries – Torr Works in Somerset – and take your skills to the next level. As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll be at the heart of keeping our massive quarrying operation running safely and efficiently.

What Makes This Role Unique?

Work at scale: Torr Works is one of the UK’s largest quarries—a key site in the national construction supply chain.
Diverse equipment: From crushers and conveyors to fixed and mobile plant, you’ll work on an incredible range of heavy-duty machinery.

Key Responsibilities

Perform planned maintenance and repairs across a variety of site equipment.
Respond swiftly to plant breakdowns, delivering both immediate and long-term solutions.
Apply welding, cutting, and fabrication skills to ensure the structural integrity of our plant and equipment.
Help improve maintenance procedures, documentation, and working standards.
Collaborate with management and other departments to optimize operations and asset longevity.

What You’ll Bring

Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Mechanical Maintenance or a related field
Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, with hands-on welding and fabrication skills
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
Ability to read engineering drawings and contribute to maintenance planning
Knowledge of health and safety best practices in a heavy industrial environment
A team-player mindset with great communication skills and initiative
