Medical Assistant

Patient Care Responsibilities

  • Record manual vital signs and conduct system reviews in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Administer immunizations, injections, and oral medications to patients across all age groups, following provider orders or standing protocols.

  • Conduct point-of-care testing and assist providers during diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.

  • Monitor and document patient responses to treatments as needed.

  • Perform phlebotomy and prepare lab work and specimens as directed by the provider.

  • Process lab samples, swabs, and other specimens.

  • Educate patients on self-care and preventive health under provider guidance.

  • Track patient follow-up needs, such as preventive screenings, diagnostic testing, and specialist referrals.

  • Coordinate care by facilitating outreach to patients and specialists, closing care gaps, obtaining medical records, and collaborating with disease and case management programs when necessary.

Clinic Operations

  • Manage patient flow to ensure efficient care delivery within the clinic.

  • Prepare and set up exam and procedure rooms based on visit requirements.

  • Handle multi-line phone systems and manage email correspondence with professionalism; assist at the front desk when needed.

  • Conduct inventory management for clinical and dispensary supplies, placing orders as necessary.

  • Represent the clinic in external communications (e.g., scheduling, registration, and patient interactions).

  • May be required to travel to other clinic locations or off-site events.

Compliance & Safety

  • Perform and document quality assurance (QA) controls accurately.

  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols, including universal precautions.

  • Safeguard patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Maintain documentation standards in compliance with internal policies and medical record audit requirements.

  • Support organizational quality improvement initiatives and follow OSHA and CLIA regulations.

Team Collaboration

  • Engage in daily team huddles and meetings to discuss priorities and care plans.

  • Participate in staff training, orientation, ongoing competency assessments, and professional development.

  • Collaborate with team members to meet clinic performance metrics and client expectations.

  • Exhibit flexibility with shift assignments and clinic needs.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Qualifications

  • Proficient in sterile/aseptic techniques and exam/procedure room preparation.

  • Knowledge of instrument sterilization and autoclaving procedures.

  • Ability to support office-based clinical procedures.

  • Competent in providing immunizations for all age groups.

  • Prior experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is required.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential at time of hire where required (AAMA preferred).

  • Phlebotomy certification required within 90 days of hire where applicable.

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in primary care or urgent care.

  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.

Employee Health Requirements

  • Proof of Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity.

  • Proof of a negative TB test within 90 days prior to start date.

  • Current CPR (BLS) certification required before hire and maintained thereafter.

  • Annual influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations in accordance with company policy.

Compensation:
$20 – $24.50 per hour + bonus eligibility
