We provide a full spectrum of minimally invasive treatments for vein disease, most of which are completed in under an hour and covered by insurance. Our cosmetic offerings include treatments for varicose and spider veins. All procedures are performed in our state-of-the-art, IAC-accredited Vascular Diagnostic Center, ensuring the highest standards of safety and care.

A unique feature of our institute is The Compression Center — a dedicated retail space offering stylish and functional compression wear for both patients and the public. We specialize in personalized fittings and education to help relieve symptoms of venous disease and promote overall leg health.

About the Job

Job Summary

American Vein & Vascular Institute is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. This role involves a variety of duties focused on delivering excellent patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations. The Medical Assistant will work collaboratively with all clinic staff to foster a positive and trusting environment for patients. The position requires professionalism, discretion, and tact in all interactions. Clinic hours: 4 days per week (Tuesday – Friday), 10-hour shifts (7:30 am – 6:30 pm).

Primary Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Greet and room patients with warmth and professionalism. Take vital signs and update medical records with any changes. Obtain lower extremity measurements and take photos when necessary. Accurately enter data into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

  • Prepare sterile trays, tumescent bags, injection syringes, and maintain a clean, sanitized, and comfortable procedure room.

  • Assist during procedures, including obtaining patient consent, preparing for surgery, assisting with surgery, ensuring patient comfort, applying dressings, providing post-procedure care instructions, and cleaning and sanitizing rooms.

  • Maintain and clean autoclave equipment.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Adhere to American Vein & Vascular Institute’s professional standards, policies, and procedures, as well as all federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Follow HIPAA guidelines by safeguarding medical records and maintaining patient confidentiality.

  • Ensure diagnostic studies and procedures are verified, and that authorizations and predeterminations are current and documented in the patient chart.

  • Verify completion of consent forms and file them properly.

  • Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments as needed.

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following safety policies and legal regulations.

  • Monitor and maintain equipment, following operating instructions and performing preventive maintenance.

  • Stay current in medical practices through ongoing education and training related to diagnostic and phlebology services.

  • Occasionally fill in for the Medical Receptionist as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications/Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-3 years of related experience in a medical setting.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents like safety rules and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write reports and communicate effectively with others.

  • Strong basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and ability to interpret data like ratios and percentages.

Desired Qualifications/Skills

  • Proficiency in Word processing, Internet, E-mail, and EMR software.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • Certifications: RMA or CMA preferred. BLS/CPR certification required.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, reach, and occasionally climb, stoop, or kneel.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

  • Requires manual dexterity for tasks like handling equipment and tools.

  • Occasional exposure to moving parts and chemicals.

Work Environment

  • The work environment is usually moderate in noise, with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts and chemicals.

  • Protective equipment is provided when necessary.

Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $17 – $20 per hour
